What is more memorable than proposing to your other half in the beautiful islands of Hawai’i?! I get it, proposing can be a little scary and intimidating. Maybe there’s some pressure that it needs to be absolutely “perfect” and everything that he/she imagined for this moment. To that, I want to reassure you that no matter what you do, as long as it comes from your heart, there’s nothing to be worried about! … But again, I get it, so that’s where I come in!
Charlie was literally in the same shoes as you. He reached out to me a couple weeks prior to his trip to Hawaii with his girlfriend (now fiance) and told me that he’d like to propose in the at some point during the shoot but just didn’t know where/when to do it! All he knew was that he definitely wanted to propose on a beautiful beach and to have a few roses and candles set up waiting for them. Um…HECK YES! Charlie and I scheduled a brief phone call to go over some beach location ideas, timing, a secret phrase/word I’d say when we were approaching the proposal area, and more!
That day, my team and I woke up bright & early (4:00 am!) to set up a circle of stemmed red roses + petals, candles, and music. It was simply perfect! Carmelita was so surprised when we walked to the proposal area and I am so honored to have captured every moment/phase of emotion she experienced – the confusion of what was happening, the shock of realizing what was happening, and the happiness when Charlie got down on one knee. (And yes I teared up on the other side of the camera)
She said yes!
It’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do! Being a part of some of the biggest moments of your lives is an incredible honor and I don’t take that for granted. I want to make sure everything is perfect for you and that you’re taken care of!
