My love for filmmaking started from an editing class I took in high school where I would often edit short films in iMovie for my skater friends. After high school, I focused on pursuing my education and career in sports medicine and exercise science but would still edit slideshows for family & friends here and there. Fast forward to 2018; I was at home, researching travel tips and planning my trip to India when I came across a short film on YouTube about Sadhu life in India. I rewatched this short film over and over again, studying every shot & frame...I was obsessed. This was the catalyst moment in my life, I had this surge of inspiration to create. By the end of 2019, I bought my first camera, said goodbye to my sports medicine career, enrolled into the film program at the University of Hawai'i and the rest is history. Since then, my path as a filmmaker has led me to small and large scale productions such as American Idol, Cooking Hawaiian Style, local commercials, events, music videos, weddings, directing lifestyle content and the creation of STUDIO RISE. From my skill set, a personal favorite is color theory and shooting with artificial light in low-light settings. My goals in life are to travel the world, document and share life stories through film and most importantly, support other aspiring filmmakers along their creative journey.

Aloha! I'm Kris Bamba - a filmmaker passionate about the art of visual storytelling.

All my life, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. Why? I'm not sure...but I still ended up going to college for 4 years in Los Angeles, CA & received a BA in Political Science (yay...). Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful for that experience and everything I learned during that time, but I realized that I wasn't pursuing this career for me, but for the approval of those around me. So I came back home to Hawai'i to figure things out and I'm so glad I did because my life has forever changed for the better in so many ways. In June of 2021, my photography journey "officially" started! I was working a full-time corporate desk job and had a used DSLR camera sitting on a shelf at home. My friend had asked me to take her cousin's grad photos and I flat out said no because I had no idea what I was doing. Eventually, I agreed and that's when everything changed for me. I officially fell in love with photography & the whole process that comes with it. From making people feel comfortable in front of the camera to editing techniques - I was eager to grow my skills and see where I could go with it. When I started to take photography seriously and learned as much as I could through workshops, styled shoots, and mentorships, I was able to step away from my full-time job in December of 2021 and become a full-time entrepreneur & photographer! Within my first full year of business, I shot over 40 weddings & elopements, captured countless moments for couples, families and individuals, hosted styled shoots + a Content Retreat to Utah, and generated a 6 figure income for the first time ever in my life. My goal in this workshop is to share absolutely EVERYTHING I've learned with YOU! I'm holding nothing back 😉 I want to see you succeed, however that may look for you!

Hey guys! I'm Megan - a photographer obsessed with capturing moments for the madly in love.

The workshop covered so much, it was amazing! I loved that Kris & Megan opened up about their processes! For example, their workflow, what they send to clients, examples, etc. I also loved that they stressed the importance of client experience! That is something I definitely need to work on.

It was really inspiring meeting all of the other creatives in the workshop and at the mixer. I was a bit intimidated going into class thinking I didn't have the best or right equipment, I had a lower skill set, and I wasn't confident as I was preemptively comparing myself to others. However, after meeting all the wonderful students in the class, I realized that we were all in this together. Everyone has to start somewhere. And we all have our insecurities but at the end of the day, you just have to fully believe in yourself and push yourself to turn photography/videography into your dream job.

Capturing love, confidence and authentic moments.
