I recently wrote a blog about the journey of co-founding Shutter Haus, a creative studio in Oahu, Hawai’i. In the blog I mentioned that we acquired a second location. Today’s blog is all about the new location, Aloha Paradise Studio by Shutter Haus!
The History of Aloha Paradise Studios
The original Aloha Paradise Studios was opened by Mai & Chuckie in 2020. It has become a well-known studio with people coming from out of state to shoot in Mai’s now-iconic, outdoor floral tub! People even have it on their bucket list to shoot at Aloha Paradise Studio.
How We Acquired Aloha Paradise Studio
Our first creative studio location, Shutter Haus, wouldn’t exist without Mai and Aloha Paradise Studio! In 2022, I attended a Lei Po’o workshop hosted by Aloha Paradise Studio where I met my business partner Kris. Shortly after, Mai asked Kris and I to shoot a branding photoshoot with Princess Mae at APS. After that, Kris and I started shooting together a lot and eventually started hosting our own workshops. At a dinner following one of those workshops, Mai and Chuckie suggested Kris and I rent a studio space in their building – something we had never thought of! That studio became Shutter Haus which has been in business for almost a year.
In April of 2024, Mai shared with us that she was looking to hand Aloha Paradise Studio off to people she trusted. After seeing what we’d built with Shutter Haus last year, she thought Kris and I would be a great fit. Just like we had no plans to start Shutter Haus, we weren’t at all thinking a second location would be in the cards for us so soon. But, we were honored to be thought of and decided to jump on the opportunity.
We’re so excited to be announcing Aloha Paradise Studio by Shutter Haus as our second location! With the new location we can now offer a new and distinct look for photoshoots, a bigger space to host events, and a hub on the West-side of the island where there are many new creatives to get to know and collaborate with.

Grand Opening
Once again, we managed to pull off a studio remodel in less than a month and hosted our grand opening on May 22nd. We’re so grateful to the previous owners, Mai & Chuckie; the Shutter Haus team, our friends, and family for helping us get the new studio ready; and everyone who came out to celebrate this next chapter with us!
